REIKI

What is Reiki?
Reiki is an energy healing system originally developed in Japan by Mikao Usui.
From Japanese, the kanji Rei would translate to spiritual, divine or sacred and Ki roughly means life force energy.
Therefore, Reiki is the sacred energy that everything in the Universe is made of – including us, humans.
During a healing session, the Reiki practitioner uses various techniques such as hands-on healing, symbols, mantras to channel and move Reiki energy within the recipient’s energetic field in order to promote balance on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. This can happen either in person or at a distance.

What are the benefits of Reiki therapy?
Our natural state is Reiki. At our core, each one of us has a sacred, pure essence which oftentimes gets muddied by all sorts of traumas, fears, anxieties, attachments, and societal norms.
⸙ The main aim of Reiki therapy is to restore balance within all our systems and bring us closer to this pure essence that exists within ⸙
Reiki therapy promotes our natural healing ability. It is not prescriptive, and does not aim to diagnose. Rather, it supports the innate wisdom of our being to heal itself and bring itself back into balance, a process also knowns as homeostasis. This healing may occur within the physical, mental, emotional, and / or spiritual bodies.
Therefore, Reiki therapy is not intrusive and does not force – the recipient’s body and energetic field are in charge. This means that each person will have a unique experience based on their unique circumstances.

FAQ
What happens during a live Reiki session? (in person & at distance)
Usually, we’ll start with a quick chat to better understand your circumstances and why you’d like to receive Reiki therapy.
This is followed by a guided meditation to ground and prepare you for receiving Reiki,
Typically, during the session you will lie down on your back or in any comfortable position of your choice while receiving Reiki. Physical touch is optional and can be agreed at the beginning of the session.
At the end of the session we’ll have a short integration chat where you are welcome to share anything you’d like about your experience. After the session, you will receive a check-in email with further integration suggestions and resources.
Does Reiki work at a distance?
Yes! The Reiki practitioner is trained to connect to the energetic field of the recipient across space. So, distance Reiki therapy has the same effects as an in person session.
An online Reiki session follows the same outline as an in-person one – starting with a grounding guided mediation followed by receiving Reiki therapy and an integration chat at the end. The only difference is that it’s conducted over Zoom rather than face-to-face.
You can also have an offline distance Reiki session. For this, we would need to agree beforehand a window of time when you are able to be undisturbed and receive the Reiki therapy. A post-session check-in & integration chat will be available.
Post-session care
In general, after receiving Reiki, people report experiencing a sense of calm, grounding, and wellbeing.
Reiki therapy aims to bring harmony to your systems and energetic field. Sometimes, in order to restore a state of balance, we may need to purge and release the ‘gunk’ that has been accumulating in our systems over time. This may materialise in the form of emotional release / crying, physical fatigue or feeling tender after your Reiki session.
This is completely normal and it is very important to take good care of yourself in the following days. Tend to your needs – rest, stay hydrated, eat nourishing foods. If possible, it may help to spend some time in nature and to journal about your thoughts and feelings.
After the session, you will also receive an email with more tips for integrating your experience.
